Court Detains Man For Pouring Hot Stew On Police Officer

A 33-year old man called Imole Emmanuel who poured a hot soup on a police officer was remanded in police custody by the Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court.

The accused, Emmanuel who allegedly poured a hot stew on a police officer and also charged with three counts of assault and misconduct and also attempt to snatch the policeman rifle on Monday at the state Magistrate Court pleaded that the court should grant him bail.

Charges leveled against Emmanuel reads, “Emmanuel Imole on the 13, June 2016 at about 5.30pm in Ado Ekiti along Baptist junction Ilawe Road threaten with violence Cpl Akingbade Kayode who is attached to New Iyin Road Police State, Ado Ekiti by pouring hot stew on his face in police uniform and struggle with his rifle which is an offense contrary to and punishable

The policeman was said to have dashed to the restaurant to eat but Emmanuel followed him there and the committed the act.

The defense council urged the court to grant the accused bail since he had not been proven guilty but Idowu Ayenimo, the Chief Magistrate said there was not enough ground to grant bail to the accused.

The Chief Magistrate then adjourned the case till 7, July and ordered that the accused should remain in police custody.
