FUNNAB Students Riot Over Constant Robbers Invasion Of Hostels
On Thursday, in Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, FUNNAB, over hundreds of students rioted over insecurity and crimes happening in the institution
The rioters blocked the main entrance to the institution causing a heavy traffic calling on the attention of the state government to do something about the level of insecurity in the institution.
Prior to the riot, there have been some attacks on one of the private hostel in the school area.
According to reports, the last attack was on Wednesday morning were some notorious robbers stormed the hostel robbed the students of their money and properties.
Those living off campus were not excluded, some of the the rioters who spoke with newsmen said they have been experiencing constant robbery cases without the police doing anything about it.
The riot led to disruption of academic and administrative activities in the university, lecture halls were closed, the aggrieved students went about shutting doors and closing lecture halls that were open, stirring them to join their protest.
The protest left many workers and students of the institution stranded at different bus stop because of the barricade caused by the protesters.
At the time of writing this report, the vice chancellor has not issued any statement regarding the incidents.
