Soldier Shoots A Policeman Over Struggle For Ramadan Rice

In Borno State, a policeman was shot by a soldier over rice between some of his colleagues and some soldiers of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army.

This incident happen in the office of the deputy governor of the state where bags of rice were being or Semovita by the state government to the internally displaced persons for Ramadan.

The distribution attracted thousands of people from all around the state were a policeman believed to be a sergeant  clashed with soldiers.

The soldiers who came into the government house expected that the distributed bags of rice should equally get to them and not only the Internally Displaced Persons in the state but the policemen in charge of the distribution refused and due to the refusal, an angry soldier brought out his gun and shot at the policeman.

This stirred tension in the area, lots of gunshot was released, but thanks to other senior security agents who intervened and contained the matter.

The policeman is currently responding to treatment and the soldier who shot the policeman was arrested by other soldiers.

An eyewitness who spoke with newsmen said there were several gunshots and this made the people to run for their lives.
General Lucky Irabo, the Theater Commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole confirmed the incident and said its an unfortunate one.

He said the Nigerian military has zero tolerance for criminal behavior from any axis of the command, he added that its so unfortunate that a soldier could shot a police officer.
