Troops Says Boko Haram Are Now Trapped In Sambisa Forest

On Thursday, in Maiuguri, Lafiya Dole Maj-Gen Lucky Irabor, the Theater Commander, Operation said that the Boko Haram terrorists have been trapped in Sambisa forest.

This was achieved by constant attack made by the Nigerian troops and has reduced the capacity of the terrorists in the area to fight back.

The Theater Commander said, we have reduced the capacity they have in Sambisa so they are now trapped in the Sambisa forest and this has also reduced the way we attack them as well because it is now very difficult to reach them.

Gen Irabor said, “we will make life unbearable for them and those still hiding in the forest will not be speared until they surrender themselves to the Nigerian troops”.

The General disclosed one of their recent successful operations against the insurgency in the region. He said, during the operation at Chukungudu, one of the notorious Boko Haram Kingpin, Amir identified as Abubakar Gana longside with 18 other Boko Haram members were ambushed and killed by the Nigerian military some ammunition were recovered from them, they include, one AK47 rifle with magazine, two heavy AA guns, one RPG bomb, 267 rounds of 7.62mm NATO metal links a pistol and an Improvised Explosive Device IED was destroyed by the troops.

He added that the troops rescued some hostages (women and children) from the notorious group and some huge amount of cash.
