Functions Of Each Chemical Used
Water: This is an indispensable solvent for the dissolving of various chemicals, and also helps with the fermentation stage. Water is definitely important in Liquid Soap production.
Foam Booster: Thanks to its self-descriptive name, you already know its function, it helps the liquid to produce a high yield of foam when being used. It is liquid and transparent like water.
Formalin: This is used as a preservative, necessary for commercial producers of washing liquids that are to be kept for a maximum period of 6 months. Formalin should be used with discretion because it is harmful to Human health and might cause cancer if not used properly.
STPP: This is an abbreviation for Sodium Salt Triphosphoric Acid, and like most salts, it has a powdered and white crystalline appearance. It is a good cleaning agent and works with SLS as a compound in the production of Liquid soap.
Sulphonic Acid: Similar to STTP, this also works with SLS. It is also a cleaning and a Foaming agent. Sulphonic acid is usually confused for sulphuric acid, it is liquid with pitch black color.

SLS: Same physical appearance to a grain of rice, it helps in reducing the surface tension of the solution. It is also an important active forming agent.
Texapon: A jellylike physical substance, the function of texapon in liquid soap is to act as both a foaming agent and a foaming booster. Large scale producers of liquid soaps do not use Texapon and SLS together as they both serve the same function.
Vitamin E: It protects the skin from damages caused by all the chemicals in the liquid soap, Vitamin E is used in all beauty and skin care products.

Materials Needed To Produce Liquid Soap In Nigeria

Precautions to follow

How to make liquid soap in Nigeria
I. The Caustic Soda should be dissolved in water and kept to ferment for 24hours, Soda Ash should also be dissolved in 1 liter of water and kept for 24hours or overnight.
II. Nitrosol should be dissolved in 10 liters of water in a big mixing bucket a few minutes before production begins but if you prefer to use Antosol which takes more time to dissolve, you should dissolve it in water for a minimum of 24hours before production. A starchy solution confirms that the product has been properly dissolved.
III. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) should be dissolved in 1 liter of water before production begins. The dissolved solution should be kept for a minimum of 1 hour but for best results overnight dissolving is suggested.
IV. STTP should be dissolved in 1 liter of water and kept aside while production goes on.
V. Mix Sulphonic acid and Texapon together. Ensure they are properly mixed and furtherly dissolved in 2 liters of water. Gently stir the mixtures until it is properly dissolved and in a homogenous state. If done correctly, a noticeable amount of heat will be generated from the mixture thanks to its exothermic process.
VI. The powdered color should be dissolved in a small pail of water and placed aside.
VII. Cautiously pour the dissolved Sulphonic Acid and Texapon mixture into the bowl containing the well dissolved Nitrosol. Stir well and gently with a wooden stick until the whole mixture is in a homogenous state (This process would take time, so you have to be patient while stirring). Ensure it is done in a big bucket because this is where all the chemicals will be added and stirred until the liquid soap is made.
VIII. After stirring is complete, add the Caustic Soda and continue stirring for 5 minutes.
IX. Next, the dissolved Soda Ash should be added to the solution and stirring continues.
X. Add the STTP and stir properly.
XI. The dissolved SLS should be added and stirred properly.
XII. Now add the Foam Booster and stir.
XIII. Add the Formalin and keep stirring.
XIV. Vitamin E and Glycerin should be added simultaneously and stirring should be done continually.
XV. At this point, the mixture should be well blended and all particles must have disappeared, now add the color you earlier dissolved in water, also add the fragrance and stir properly until it is properly mixed.
XVI. Finally, add the remaining water. This should be done gradually, a small quantity should be added and stirred. Keep doing this until you get the desired thickness. Liquid Soap should not be too thick or too watery so you have to be very cautious at this point.
Note: Following these steps properly is very important, skipping any step would lead to a different result which would be unpleasant.
